Hunter Safety Course

Goals of the DNR Hunter Education Program

  • Educate Iowans about hunter safety
  • Promote hunter education and ethics
  • Train volunteer instructors to teach hunter education
  • Continue to keep hunting the safe activity it has become

Allamakee County Conservation Board hosts Iowa Hunters Education course once a year to the public in September. To find other classes near you, please visit Iowa DNR website to find a class near you.

How to Obtain an Iowa Hunter Education Certificate

  • Classroom Instruction + Field Day - find a course in your area
  • Online course + Field Day (16 or older)
  • Adult Online Only Hunter Education Course - Must be 18 years of age
