Summer Nature Day-Camps

New this summer are 3 nature related day-camps for 3 different age ranges. Look below for more information. Registration is required to participate. Insectigations (1st-2nd Grade):

Date: July 9th, 2025 9AM - 2PM

Location: Waterville Farm

Come and explore all the tiny critters Iowa has to offer! We will dig in to the fascinating world of insects and explore how they may be small but they are just as cool!

 

Survival (3rd-5th Grade):

Date: July 11th, 2025 9AM - 2PM

Location: Waterville Farm

Get ready to challenge your survival skills. You will be challenged with building a shelter, starting a fire, plant identification, and so much more! Get ready to see if you can pass the challenge!

 

Wilderness Exploration (6th-8th Grade):

Date: July 23rd, 2025 9AM - 3PM

Location: Yellow River State Forest

Nature is all about the way you see it and explore it. This is a chance to see nature the way you haven't before and to spend your entire day outdoors hiking the beautiful Yellow River State Forest.

Allamakee County Conservation Foundation Scholarship

The Allamakee County Conservation Foundation Scholarship Fund is offering a $500 scholarship to Allamakee County students who plan to further their education in the degrees of environmental education, cultural interpretation, historical interpretation, outdoor recreation, or biological sciences. One $500 scholarship will be offered to a senior from each of the area High Schools in Allamakee County; Postville, Allamakee Community, and Eastern Allamakee.

  • Applicant must be a graduate or scheduled to graduate from an Allamakee County school district.
  • Applicant must be pursuing a degree in natural resources or related field.
  • Scholarship payments will be made directly to the college or university, upon receipt of an e-mail letter to the Allamakee County Conservation Foundation confirming the recipient’s enrollment.
  • Applications must be received by April 1st, 2025.
  • Announcement of the recipient will be made by May 6, 2025. The award winner is encouraged to attend the June Allamakee County Conservation Board meeting.  Meetings are held the 1st Tuesday of each month at the Driftless Area Education and Visitors Center; 1944 Columbus Road, Lansing Iowa.
